One of three panels commissioned for the boardroom exploring the 'History, mystery and romance' of Scotch Whisky, showing how the manufacture and appreciation of whisky has developed from the Celts to the present day. This panel is concerned with the 'mystery' of Scotch whisky and describes the raw materials and the process of distillation. The design shows the traditional malting process, where grain is hand turned by day and night with a wooden shovel on the malting floors, contrasting it here with the new technology where grain is mechanically raked in great vats. The cat is the infamous 'Towser' the 'mouser' from Glenturret Distillery, who caught thousands of mice in his lifetime.
