'The Creation and Holy Word windows'

Dunbar Parish Church

2 @ 2.2m x 6m

British Legion Memorial Dunbar

The left window was inspired by Psalm 97, which praises God's glory and creation. The words from the psalm draw the viewer into the window, where the design is a combination of imagery suggested by The Creation and Psalm 97. This window is directly opposite the south window, and both designs were based on the same geometric composition using the circle, vertical shafts of colour and horizontal bands of text. The right window was inspired by Isaiah 55 which recalls the purpose of 'the word of God'. This passage also connects thematically with the Parable of the Sower, which is symbolised in the lower part of the window, along with other Christian symbols including the vine and the grain.
